In May, in the context of Vinexpo Asia 2024, Viña Don Melchor led a masterclass tasting in Hong Kong, aimed at distributors, master sommeliers and consumers from different markets in Asia.

At the Murray Hotel in Hong Kong, the winemaker of the company’s luxury brand portfolio, Isabel Mitarakis, led an attractive masterclass on Puente Alto’s icon Cabernet Sauvignon for distributors, master sommeliers, and consumers from Viña Don Melchor‘s different markets in Asia. 

This master tasting consisted of living the experience of the Don Melchor vineyard parcels, presenting three of them and showing the diversity of Cabernet Sauvignon found in the same place.  

On this occasion, the attendees also participated in an exclusive vertical tasting of Don Melchor, where they tasted the 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2021 vintages of this renowned Chilean icon wine.  

“This was a great opportunity to learn about the diversity of Cabernet Sauvignon that can be found in the Don Melchor vineyard through the tasting of the parcels, as well as the meticulous work that is done with each one of them to achieve the best expression of this internationally renowned terroir,” says the winemaker Isabel Mitarakis. 

The three parcels tasted  

Parcel 1 

Contributes intense red fruit and fresh, vibrant expression. A sweet entry is followed by great elegance and smoothness, with fine, harmonious tannins and a long finish. 

Parcel 3 

Contributes aromas of black and red fruit. The mouth is powerful, firm and highly concentrated with pronounced tannins. 

Parcel 5 

This parcel is pure freshness and energy with an intense expression of red fruit. Its acidity, liveliness and tension are more pronounced. On the palate, the finely meshed tannins bring a certain structure combined with freshness and length.
