Don Melchor 2021 included among the Best Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile by Descorchados 2024

Don Melchor is worthy of a notable 97 points in the new version of the prestigious Chilean wine guide Descorchados, by journalist Patricio Tapia, rising for the eighth time in its history among the Best Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile.

The 35th vintage of this well-known Cabernet Sauvignon from the Puente Alto appellation has received an impressive 97 points. It has been featured in the Best Cabernet Sauvignon of Chile ranking, the Best Maipo Andes list, and the Best Reds ranking.

Don Melchor 2021 is a wine made from 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Merlot. The winemaker, Enrique Tirado, expertly combines the expression of each of the seven parcels that comprise the Don Melchor vineyard – subdivided, at the same time, into 151 small plots-, resulting in a well-balanced wine. This wine reflects the complexity and elegance the Puente Alto terroir can deliver in a single bottle.

“The 2021 vintage gave us very expressive wines, full of concentration, dense and long, that highlight the fruit quality and texture of each variety grown in the Don Melchor Vineyard, showing a fine balance between delicacy and energy, with extremely expressive flavors and aromas”, describes Enrique Tirado, Technical Director and CEO of Viña Don Melchor.

It is worth mentioning that Don Melchor, one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons in the world, has consistently received over 91+ points in the Descorchados guide for the past 26 years. Its best performance was the 98 points it received for its 2018 vintage in Descorchados 2021. These impressive results attest to the wine’s unwavering quality, rich tradition, and overall excellence.
