Don Melchor 2018 gets the highest score awarded by Decanter to a Chilean wine

The British magazine dedicated in its October edition an article to South American Cabernet Sauvignon.

An important new recognition adds the 2018 vintage of Don Melchor, this time by the British magazine Decanter that in its October edition dedicated an article to South American Cabernet Sauvignon, where it reviewed Don Melchor 2018 and assigned it the publication’s highest score (98 points), which is also the highest score ever given to a Chilean wine by the publication.

“A leader among New World Bordeayx-style Cabernet Sauvignons since 1987, this seduces with its precision and elegance. Made following a massal selection pre-phylloxera vines from Puente Alto, a “grand cru” of Maipo Valley, this outstanding Cabernet –with 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot –shows a redcurrant, graphite, thyme and cigar box fragrance. A silky, tense flow leads into an exciting, prolonged finish”, said Alejandro Iglesias.

With this distinction, Don Melchor consolidates his position as one of the great high-end Cabernet Sauvignons in the world.
