Like every year, specialized wine journalist Patricio Tapia prepared a new version of his prestigious wine guide, Descorchados, in which he awarded the 2020 Don Melchor an outstanding 96 points.

Along with the excellent score and being selected as one of the Best Wines of Alto Maipo, Tapia wrote that this in this vintage, “The fruit is black and generously ripe, the herbal notes are subjugated by this onslaught of sweetness, and the tannins are as creamy and elegant as ever, lending a very pleasingly fat sensation. A Don Melchor to keep for about five years to allow it to gain complexity. This year, the blend is 92% cabernet sauvignon and 6% cabernet franc with merlot and petit verdot in similar percentages. While the 2019 vintage is perceived as full of structure, austere, and firm, this new vintage is full of exuberance and generous fruits.”

This new accolade for Don Melchor confirms its excellence and position as an exceptional wine that expresses the unique character of the Puente Alto terroir, situating it among the highest of the global industry.
