During her visit to Chile, Viña Don Melchor welcomed Suzie Chung, a renowned and influential wine journalist, educator and consultant from South Korea, who has established herself as a leading voice in connecting global wine regions with Asian markets.

The purpose of her trip was to deepen her knowledge of Chilean viticulture, while gaining first-hand insight into the evolution of its wines and the latest developments within the industry, with the aim of consolidating her expertise in Chilean wines.

The experience began at the Don Melchor Vineyard, located in the acclaimed Puente Alto Appellation, a unique Andean origin to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. During her visit, Suzie Chung discovered the Sundial Vineyard project, planted in 2018—an innovative initiative designed to determine the optimal orientation and planting density for this exceptional terroir, while safeguarding its expression and long-term projection for future generations.

She then visited Casa Don Melchor in Pirque, where she took part in a tasting of three iconic vineyard parcels, alongside the 2022 vintage of Don Melchor and DM/01 vintage 2022, the first wine in the innovative “The Parcels” Series by Viña Don Melchor, which expresses in each vintage the finest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from a single, specific parcel.
