The renowned critics awarded 94 points to the Chilean wine in its 2020 vintage.

In its most recent edition, the specialized wine magazine Club Oenologique rated Don Melchor 2020 with 94 points, commending it as one of the best Bordeaux blends produced outside Bordeaux. 

Noted Bordeaux wine critic Jane Anson wrote the review, calling it a “true Bordeaux blend.” The outstanding results are due to the joint work that Don Melchor’s winemaker and CEO Enrique Tirado do every year with winemaker Eric Boissenot in Bordeaux.

“Deep plum color. Raspberry and damson plum on the attack, with range and depth on the mid-palate, creamy licorice, and cocoa beans. Cedar and vanilla-smoked oak. It’s full of ripe fruit, confident and full of character,” says Anson in his tasting note.

Jane Anson is considered the most knowledgeable and leading expert on Bordeaux wines, about which she has authored books such as Inside Bordeaux, Wine Revolution, and Bordeaux Legends, among others.
