This year’s version of the annual ranking by American wine writer James Suckling, one of the world’s most important critics, places the 2020 vintage of Don Melchor 19th on the list of Chile’s 100 best wines.

Recognizing Don Melchor with an excellent 97 points, Suckling described the most recent vintage as “deep and serious with black olives, blackberries, blueberries, tobacco leaf, sweet red capsicum, ash, dried meat and a hint of black chocolate. This is a more direct, full-bodied Don Melchor, filled with solid blackberries and wrapped by tight, fine-grained tannins. Long and deep. Better after 2024.”
