The American wine critic James Suckling and senior editor Zekun Shuai are in Chile to taste new vintages and releases. They will compile a report on Chilean wines in 2024.

Renowned wine critic James Suckling and his senior editor Zekun Shuai are currently in Chile tasting the new vintages and releases that will be featured in Suckling’s 2024 report on Chilean wines.

Both critics visited Casona de Viña Don Melchor to taste five vintages of Puente Alto’s icon Cabernet, including 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

“We were delighted to host James and Zekun at our Casona to sample the new 2022
Don Melchor vintage. This vintage is renowned for its remarkable energy, finesse, and elegance – typical of Puente Alto. We also had the pleasure of revisiting the 2018 vintage, which had received a perfect score of 100 points from James Suckling after approximately five years”, says Enrique Tirado.

The 2022 Don Melchor vintage consists of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. This wine is known for its high concentration, energy, richness, and fullness.
