Winemaker Enrique Tirado reflects on the great 2018 vintage

A great vintage. Ideal conditions were vital to secure a high-quality harvest successfully.

"One of the greatest harvest in Don Melchor's history." This is how its winemaker, Enrique Tirado, describes Don Melchor 2018 – soon to be launched. The vintage, which received an astonishing 100 points from critic James Suckling, had a harvest under ideal conditions with virtually no rain, warm temperatures during the day and chilling ones at night—giving rise to a very expressive wine, grand personality, and complexity.

Don Melchor 2018 holds the unique character of great wines and extraordinary harvests. It is composed of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot.

Enrique Tirado reflects on the score earned by the wine, understanding it as a distinction and significant recognition of over 30 years of dedicated work resulting in the grand Don Melchor.
