The September issue of the prestigious The Drinks Business included the “Chile Tasting” report, a comprehensive evaluation of Chilean wines by Patrick Schmitt MW, which crowned Don Melchor 2022 as the top performer. With an exceptional 99-point score, the highest in the report, the wine once again reaffirms its leadership as one of the most awarded and globally recognized Cabernet Sauvignon.
“The latest release of Don Melchor is outstanding. It takes a few sips to assess all the flavours, which are myriad, and include cherry jam and blackberry coulis with crushed raspberry and sweet cassis, followed by toast and vanilla cream, then cracked black pepper and cedar wood. There’s spice, and fine, dense, dry tannin to bring a mouthwatering close too”, described by the Master of Wine when tasting the 2022 vintage of Don Melchor.
The 2022 vintage of this iconic Cabernet Sauvignon comprises 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, showcasing the purity and richness of its terroir in the renowned Denomination of Origin Puente Alto.
Don Melchor achieved yet another remarkable milestone by being the best evaluated wine in the latest report by the esteemed Master of Wine Patrick Schmitt. This significant recognition adds to the distinguished track record of the Chilean icon — which was also crowned wine Nº 1 in the “Top 100 Wines of 2024” ranking by Wine Spectator with its 2021 vintage and awarded with oustanding 99 points in the 2022 vintage by renowned critic James Suckling.
This new score further cements the consistency and exceptional quality of this world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, from a unique terroir, D.O. Puente Alto, and marks yet another milestone in its journey as a benchmark wine on the international stage.
