Following the annual tasting for the 2025 edition of the Descorchados Guide, written by Chilean wine journalist Patricio Tapia, the 2022 vintage of Don Melchor received 97 points.
This new vintage, which is not yet available in the markets, is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. It is noted for offering an intense expression and precision of aromas and flavors, characteristic of its great origin in the Puente Alto appellation.
In addition to this remarkable score, the iconic Puente Alto Cabernet Sauvignon ranked in the “Best Cabernet Sauvignon” and “Best Maipo Andes” categories.
The 2022 vintage of Don Melchor is described by its winemaker as a wine that offers “offers intensely expressive aromas dominated by red fruit and floral notes followed by blackcurrants and blackberries. On the palate, it has a smooth entry evolving into mouth-filling flavors in a sumptuous wine with tremendous concentration and great energy and breadth. e fine textures and great balance reappear on the long finish, accompanied by very expressive fruity aromas that come to the fore.”
This great score reflects the exceptional winemaking consistency and the outstanding quality of one of the best high-end Cabernet Sauvignons in the world.
