In a recent review published in the prestigious wine and luxury lifestyle magazine Club Oenologique, British Master of Wine Alistair Cooper highlighted six iconic vintages of Don Melchor, the emblematic Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto.

The renowned Master of Wine awarded outstanding scores and recognitions to the 1988, 2001, 2010, 2014, 2021, and 2022 vintages of Don Melchor, following a vertical tasting held last year in the United Kingdom with the team from Viña Don Melchor. This experience provided an opportunity to delve into the trajectory and history of excellence of one of the world’s most prestigious and globally recognized Cabernet Sauvignon.

In his article, “Don Melchor: 1988–2022,” Cooper underscored Don Melchor’s extraordinary track record, highlighting the unique character derived from its Puente Alto terroir, as well as the consistency and winemaking excellence present in every vintage. He also emphasized its international reputation, noting that Don Melchor “is often referred to as Chile’s original icon wine and is without question one of the country’s most recognized and decorated premium wines.”

After tasting the six vintages, the Master of Wine added: “T These are clearly extremely age-worthy wines.”

This review in one of the UK’s most influential publications once again reinforces Don Melchor’s winemaking consistency, exceptional quality, and remarkable aging potential, consolidating its position as Chile’s iconic Cabernet Sauvignon and a benchmark of world-class excellence.
