Year after year, Tim Atkin, British wine critic and Master of Wine, travels to Chile to taste the new vintages that will be part of his report on Chilean wines. During his most recent visit to Viña Don Melchor in December, he had the chance to taste the new vintage of our iconic Puente Alto Cabernet Sauvignon: Don Melchor 2022.
During the tasting, Enrique Tirado, CEO and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor, led a vertical tasting of six vintages of Don Melchor, from 2017 to 2022. The latest vintage was rated with outstanding 97 points.
Don Melchor 2022 is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, and stands out for offering an intense expression and precision of aromas and flavors, characteristic of its great origin in the acclaimed Puente Alto appellation.
This excellent 97-point recognition adds to the prestige and legacy of Viña Don Melchor, reaffirming the extraordinary quality of one of the most iconic and awarded Cabernet Sauvignons of the New World.
