UK wine writer Oz Clarke visited Viña Don Melchor to learn about its innovative project “Sundial Vineyard” and discover the latest developments of the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto: Don Melchor.

During his visit to Chile, renowned wine writer and expert Oz Clarke traveled to our Don Melchor vineyard, located in the prestigious Puente Alto appellation, to explore the innovative “Sundial Vineyard” project and discover the exceptional qualities of this terroir, which is considered one of the best in the world for the production of high-end Cabernet Sauvignon. 

On his tour of the vineyard, Enrique Tirado, CEO and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor, explained the meticulous micro-management work carried out in the seven main Cabernet Sauvignon parcels, the vineyard’s agroecological approach, and one of its latest innovations: Sundial Vineyard. 

“Don Melchor represents a constant quest for excellence. Each vintage of Don Melchor is the result of the best expression from each particular vintage and this Sundial Vineyard will undoubtedly add a new dimension to the final result of this wine,” affirms Enrique. 

Afterward, they headed to the Don Melchor House to experience a vertical tasting of seven iconic Don Melchor vintages, which demonstrated the exceptional enological consistency of a wine with over 35 vintages behind it.
