Renowned Master of Wine China, Fongyee Walker, recently visited Viña Don Melchor to learn about our terroir's exceptional qualities, the unprecedented Solar Vineyard project, and Puente Alto's icon Cabernet Sauvignon, Don Melchor, vintage N°35.

Viña Don Melchor hosted Fongyee Walker, mainland China’s first Master of Wine and co-founder of Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting, the only authorized wine education and consulting institute in the country.  

The expert, accompanied by a select group of students, was received at Viña Don Melchor by Enrique Tirado, CEO and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor, and Aldo Rubio, Administrator of the Don Melchor Estate. During their vineyard visit, they learned in greater detail about the exceptional qualities of the climate and soil of our terroir, located in the acclaimed Puente Alto Denomination of Origin. 

Afterward, they visited the innovative Solar Vineyard project, recently launched by Viña Don Melchor. The project aims to advance sustainability, preserve biodiversity in the vineyard, address challenges posed by climate change, contribute to scientific research, and provide valuable information about vine cultivation. 

They later visited Casona Don Melchor in Pirque, where they sampled the seven parcels that create the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor, as well as the 2020 and 2021 vintages.
