This year, Viña Don Melchor celebrates four decades of a trajectory marked by excellence and consistency, a story that has helped position Chile at the very top of the global wine industry. To mark this milestone, a series of four events was held, highlighting its origin, identity, and legacy.
The event celebrating Don Melchor’s 40 harvests brought together clients, consumers, and members of the press in a series of experiences designed to deepen understanding of the origin, identity, and excellence of this outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, which has contributed to consolidating Chile’s presence in the ultra-premium segment worldwide and which in 2024 was recognized as the No. 1 wine in the world by Wine Spectator, one of the highest distinctions a wine can receive.
The day began at the Don Melchor Vineyard, where the CEO and Technical Director presented the exceptional characteristics of this unique terroir, as well as the pillars that have sustained the brand’s success over four decades. In the same place, attendees participated in a harvest experience in specific rows of the Sundial Vineyard, an innovative project planted in 2018 aimed at studying the best vine orientation and planting density in this specific appellation, with the goal of extracting the maximum potential and personality of Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto.
Later, the experience continued in Pirque, at Casa Don Melchor, the historic summer residence of the Concha y Toro family. There, attendees tasted, alongside Enrique Tirado, three emblematic vineyard parcels, along with the current vintage of this prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon. They also toured the Don Melchor Collection Room, which preserves all vintages since the first vintage.
The celebration culminated with a cocktail reception and closing dinner, in a memorable day that brought together history, excellence, and the constant pursuit of quality that defines Don Melchor.
A story of excellence that continues to be written, driven by a world-class team committed to revealing the full potential of an exceptional origin at the foothills of the Andes, and to continuing to project Chile to the highest levels of the global wine industry.
